The story of Eden Artwork

Greetings and salutations!

My name is Baya and I am an artist from the U.K.

My journey as an artist began when I was a child, as I have always loved to draw. I began painting three years ago when I decided that I wanted to be a landscape artist. I painted local scenes at first, but I soon discovered a passion for painting mountains. My favourite places to paint are the Highlands of Scotland and Alaska - as I find the two places resemble each other and are very beautiful. I wanted my paintings to portray the world as I always wished to see it- perfect. I love to imagine what the Garden of Eden must have looked like, and eventually I decided to paint what I imagined. My art is sometimes fantasy based, as I reference photos for my paintings but alter them to fit how I want the world to look. I don’t change my references too drastically, because I want the places I create to be recognisable, but idyllic.

Another subject that I paint are portraits. However, like my landscapes, I don’t create ordinary portraits. I call the people I paint ‘the Children of Eden’ as I want them to look like mankind did in the Garden - perfect. We were described as having a light, which I attempt to portray in my paintings. I also put wings on my figures. This is not historically accurate, but I paint the wings to show how we were once connected to the Angelic world. In the Garden of Eden, we saw and communicated with the Angels, being spirtual beings ourselves, and I try to show this connection through my figures having Angelic features.

I also paint animal scenes because I love animals and find them beautiful. Sometimes I paint a child with large animals, which in this life would not happen. However, this can be a reference to Paradise, as it is written that “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them… The nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra... They do no evil” - Isaiah 11:6

In the New Kingdom every living creature shall live in harmony with each other. I find this promise extremely beautiful, and in this very dark world, I hope my paintings will remind people of our promise and our light.
